GASTROENTEROLOGY

The gastroenterology rotation will consist of a 2
week block on the consult service at ANW and 2 weeks in GI clinics at various
MNGI sites. During the clinic block there may be occasional days of hospital
coverage. The schedule will be sent to the resident 1 week before the beginning
of the rotation. If there are questions about the rotation contact Coleman
Smith or Polly Nesset the NP who works in the hospital with MNGI.
Resident continuity clinic: Friday AM, a three
week minimum notice, given to Anne is required if you are planning on
taking vacation time.
Subspecialty clinics: Will be conducted at 3 sites
Plymouth site
15700 37th Avenue North, Suite #300,
Plymouth, MN 55446.
Located near the junction of Hwy 494 and 55. Take
Hwy 55 west from that intersection and
take a right (north) onto Vicksburg Lane then take a right (east) on 37th Ave.
The Plymouth Professional Building is on the right side of the street. It is
about 40 minutes from the hospital.
Bloomington site
5705 West Old Shakopee Road, Suite #150, Bloomington, MN 55437. Take 494 west to
Normandale Boulevard. Continue to Old Shakopeec Road and turn right. Take a left on Nesbitt and immediately turn
onto the service road/parking lot. MNGI is the 2nd building to the
east. (You will see MNGI on your left just before you get to Nesbitt, but you
cannot enter the parking lot from Old Shakopee Road). It is about 30 minutes
from the hospital.
Maplewood site
1973 Sloan Place, Maplewood, MN 55117
Take 694 East to 35E south. OR Highway 36 East to 35E south. Exit
Roselawn Ave. Turn left onto Sloan Place. Turn left and go to the 3rd
building on the left
Prior to starting clinics the resident will need to
go to the MNGI business office to sign HIPPA papers, get information about
computer access and obtain a MNGI ID badge.
The process should take no longer than 15 minutes. The office is at: Court

Past resident recommendations: The hospital consult service is fairly busy but there are nurse practitioners (Polly Nesset and Heather Miller) who also help and are nice to work with. There are two GI hospital MD’s who change each week.. You can potentially be here late on the hospital days. Clinic days are over between 4 and 5 PM.
