Information for Students from Non-US Medical Schools

Application requirements:

• We accept applications only through the ERAS system (http://www.ecfmg.org/eras).
• USMLE scores of 215 or above on both step 1 and step 2, must pass CS exam on the first attempt.
• Completion of medical school within 3 years of application date.
• A Dean’s letter (or equivalent) from your medical school and 3 additional letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from faculty in Internal Medicine (including subspecialties).
• Letter from current or previous residency program director (if applicable).
• Previous US medical experience is preferred but not required.
• International graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate.
• We accept U.S. Citizens, permanent residents, foreign nationals and international graduates with J-1 sponsorship through the ECFMG.  Abbott Northwestern considers a few select candidates for H-1b visas on a candidate-by-candidate basis.  In order to be considered for an H-1b visa, applicants must have results from all USMLE Steps and their CS exam available prior to February 1st.
