what is new

The residency program is currently using extensive simulation training for procedural skills, however, the Abbott Northwestern Center for Clinical Simulation that will be completed by late fall 2008 will add an additional layer to simulation-based training for the residents. The center was founded by the residency program, and will provide high-fidelity simulation in replica ER and ICU rooms for multi-disciplinary training of code situations, emergency management, and high-risk/low-frequency scenarios. The center's AV system captures scenarios, and facilitates video debriefing following the simulation. Laerdal's SimMan 3G will be the simulation "centerpiece" of the center. Residents will be the core training group utilizing the simulation center, and the center is lead by the internal medicine residency program.
